When you think things can’t go worse, you probably start thinking about your best moments with your friends. The last soccer match or the first one that you’ve ever played, the best party or the best drunk moments of your life. Whatever the thought may be, it brings warm to your body and you start thinking positively. It’s a fact that human beings always put themselves on the worst case scenario and that’s okay.
However, this worst case scenario might have been the worst one I’ve ever put myself in.
It was a normal day; sitting in my computer, watching whatever anime I was watching that day or playing some games. I decided to quit college for 1 term, because I didn’t want to study. I felt that I was going to fail everything. And well, 2009 hasn’t been exactly a good year for me anyways.
I had finished watching or playing something, when I press my mIRC window and bam, some guy posted a link containing terrible information. Michael Jackson had died just a few moments ago.
To be honest, I felt empty. I’m such an audiofag (well, call it guy who keeps his music well tagged) and I hadn’t downloaded anything from MJ in all my 3 years in the internet life and this link really hit me hard in the ass. I was like “holy shit, Michael Jackson’s dead? time to spam some more” and never really cared for whatever the reason of his death was.
Everyone was saying it was fake, but I was sure it was not fake and MJ had died. I was starting to go nuts in the chat rooms I was in, spamming links and shit like MTV is now playing Michael Jackson’s best music video clips like Thriller, Beat it, Dirty Diana, The Way You Make Me Feel and They Don’t Really Care About Us.
I turned the TV and changed it to MTV for like the first time in 3 years. It was true. Definitely, the death of Michael Jackson was a terrible fact and the media was crazy about it. I have a friend who liked Michael Jackson. He was always trying to make us perform some of MJ dance moves, but we always rejected him cause we didn’t care or it was too hard to make it real. I was indifferent to this death. I either not cared about MJ or I was just trying to be cool by saying he was dead.
While searching for more news about this, I found a torrent with all his hits. I was curious so I left the torrent downloading while I youtube’d Michael Jackson’s greatest hits. The funny thing about Youtube is that it can make you love something just by watching the video and that happened to me in seconds. First result: MICHAEL JACKSON’S GREATEST MOONWALK EVER. Click. Watch. Brace. Enjoy. Wow.
I was like, really amazed.
Look at that guy. I mean, you have to see him dancing live, there’s NO ONE like him. When this terrible day happened, I remembered Sergio right now. And well, he was right. Every piece Michael wrote and composed was indeed fabulous and perfect. I will admit that Billie Jean is one of the best musical expressions the human could’ve made.
First, the drums. Hard and loud, the intercalation of both styles fits Billie Jean so good it makes me want to listen to this song just forever. Nice beginning for the song. Then, the best bass-line you have ever heard. Read this clearly,THE BEST BASS-LINE THAT THE MAN HAS EVER DONE.I have no words for this bass-line. It just speaks for itself. Mixing the ding-dong sound, it adds the perfect ambient to Billie Jean. The guitar, piano and the disco sounds are the funk style given to Billie Jean. And, of course, the constant moans of Michael Jackson made this song unique and glorious.
The videoclip is bad, I don’t know what they were thinking. But, the live performances are JUST WOW:
The legendary Motown 25 live concert performed by Michael Jackson and his brothers. This video is him performing Billie Jean. 1983. His greatest album, Thriller, was already on the climax of sells and marketing. And this live performance just made it better for him. Sincerely, not the best moonwalk he’s ever done, but it was just the beginning for something better in his music videos and live performances…
…like this one video:
The hardest, coolest, skill-wise and amazing dance moves I have ever seen in a music video. The design of the zombies are also a plus because it goes with the song ambience. Thriller was at its time the most expensive music video ever done, with new strings and add-ins to the primal melody of the song. More electronic sounds and keyboard implements. The lyrics, just perfect. The dance performance, out of this world.
Remember the common tango tradition at weddings? Well, that changed a while ago. It is now a tradition to dance Thriller at the wedding receptions, even if they do it wrong, I was speechless when I was watching this video:
What else could you ask for your wedding? Believe, I will someday learn these dance moves and go to your wedding and going to make you dance some Thriller to remember the King, Michael Jackson.
That wasn’t enough for his best album, it had a lot more videos, but one groundbreaking video that made everyone look at him, the best solo guitar of all history by Eddie Van Halen, Beat It:
Thanks to Sony Entertainment, the video with the best audio for this song is not allowed to be watched in Perú, blame them. The audio in this video is not enough, but turn your volume to 100 to watch one of the best and catchy songs of the King of Pop, this time doing a dancing rock song, stating that he could rock & roll also.
And… the dance performance. Once again, Michael Jackson proves to have the best creativity and stamina, plus skills, than everyone else in the 80s. Watch it and get amazed. American gangs and street busters dancing with MJ, plus some professional dancers. You can see all the gags they have, the gang leaders making mistakes at the dance, but Michael Jackson always showing his best performance like he always does. In reality, the first time I watched this video, I couldn’t unsee it for more than 2 hours and listen to the beat.
I have to say this is the only MJ dance that I perfectly know the dance moves of. Not that hard, but also a bitch to make it like Michael Jackson did it.
I would like to put more, like Smooth Criminal, Black & White, Scream (the most expensive music video ever done) and Jam. But I know I will have to, like, fight against Sony and his stupid idea of forbidding videos internationally, except for the USA.
Bad, Dangerous and HIStory were another breaking albums by Michael Jackson, with a lot of music videos also. I truly enjoy his music. And I will never get tired of it. You were amazing, Michael. Let God enjoy himself with you and your music in heaven.
And someday I will try and buy your custom shoes, too.
